Character Relationships (Canon)
RELATIONSHIP Forte loves Rhythm more than anyone in the entire world. He was created to assist her, and he's never once regretted that. Some people might find his adoration of his little charge creepy, but he doesn't care about anything like that. Rhythm is both his charge and the girl he loves, and there isn't anything he wouldn't do for her - sometimes even without her wanting to. He protects her systems with the ferocity of a vicious guard dog, closing up any holes he finds in her security with intensity, and any virus or other NetNavi who dares to break into it will very soon regret it.
He handles a lot of her day to do issues, acting as a prompt scheduler, an envoy, and a quick reporter if an emergency happens. While he doesn't have a problem leaving, Rhythm's separation anxiety means that he has a permanent link to her in order to rush back if she speaks or send messages back, and he'll often break off in the middle of whatever he's doing elsewhere to pop up at the right time to give her a reminder. The two of them play games together all the time, watch movies together, and he'll often battle for her for fun (and also because he enjoys it). While he's generally just this side of tolerable with people he's not hostile towards, with Rhythm he's always in full devotion mode, and will freely apologize or make reparations for things he's done if she asks. No matter how much he might get embarrassed about something, if it's for her, it's okay. He wishes he could be there for her physically sometimes too, especially when she's sick and miserable, but in the end, he's happy being able to help her.
Gospel
RELATIONSHIP As Gospel can only speak to Forte, Forte acts as a translator for him if necessary and a friend to him otherwise. The two are thick as thieves, and Forte adores the program deeply and trusts him implicitly. Gospel is the one person other than Rhythm who Forte will share practically anything with, and in some cases the things he shares are things Rhythm doesn't know but only suspects, such as his desire to be able to hold her when she cries and look after her if she gets sick. Admittedly, he's only willing to confess so much to him because Gospel can't tell anyone, but he does trust him deeply. He feels like he'll be in trouble if Gospel ever learns to speak, though. Too many embarrassing secrets.
Because of Gospel's being only able to talk to him, Forte does his best to listen to him whenever he talks, even if he doesn't feel in the right mood for it. He feels it's only right and he doesn't want Gospel to be lonely.
Dr. Wily
RELATIONSHIP To say Dr. Wily and Forte.EXE have a complicated relationship would be oversimplifying it. Unlike his alternate, Forte has no strong negative feelings towards Dr. Wily. The man created him, and he's always willing to help him out if Dr. Wily needs it. However, the two have personalities that happen to clash quite a bit. While Forte's always polite as he can be to Dr. Wily, there are times when he just happens to rub him the wrong way. Their relationship flourishes the best because they don't have to interact a whole lot. Sometimes Forte will poke around in his things out of curiosity, and sometimes he'll pop around just to check in on him so he can update Rhythm on what's going on or know if he's going to be busy for a while, but most of the time it sticks to the occasional IM rather than having to deal with full conversations.
Where their relationship shines, however, is their shared love for Rhythm. Dr. Wily is always quick to answer any message from Forte about her, and Forte is willing to accept orders if he thinks it's for her sake. If Dr. Wily needs to be around for her sake - if she's sick or just having issues that require extra care - Forte will tolerate him no matter how many stray comments irritate him against the man's intentions. RELATIONSHIP Compared to his other universe counterpart, Forte's relationship with Rock is actually pretty friendly. Their opposing views and activities cause some friction, but on the whole, they get along well. What helps is that Forte.EXE never gained that obsession with beating him that his counterpart did. His relationship with Rock is more of a friendly rivalry. They have a fairly even win-rate, and though they both go all out when they fight, they don't do it in a hostile manner.
If there's a conflict between them, it's that Forte looks down on Rock's noble and kind nature, while Rock thinks Forte's ruthlessness and willingness to delete others is unnerving. He hasn't seen much of Forte's darker side, as he keeps his activities in the Undernet pretty tightly to himself, but what he has seen, he doesn't like. There's been at least one case of him having to stop Forte going too far with someone who pissed him off, and it was the cause of a nasty fight. Forte did eventually acknowledge that Rock had a point about him going overboard, and the two didn't really speak of it again after that, though Rock has kept a sharp eye out for signs that he needs to interfere again. Despite those little conflicts, the two are firm friends and often greet each other cheerfully when they meet. Forte is always willing to help Rock and his operator out, and the feeling is mutual - as long as it doesn't involve criminal activities. When the two work together, they're largely considered unstoppable. They're both strong, and Rock provides the moral compass to keep Forte in check and reins in his temper, while Forte prevents Rock from being taken advantage of due to his niceness and watches his back. While the two aren't the kind of friends who're constantly hanging out, neither feels reluctant to drop in on the other, though they'll both message first to make sure they're not walking in on something private. They've also got a private chatroom for them and their operators which any of the four can drop a message on if their conversation isn't something they're worried might be overheard.
Snakeman.EXE
RELATIONSHIP Snakeman.EXE holds the record for the amount of times Forte has had to hold back on hurting someone. Of all of the people in the Undernet, Snake's ability to avoid being beaten to a pulp is the envy of most. Mostly this is due to the extensive amount of information he holds. His expertise with spyware and habit of trading for information - and access to systems he shouldn't have - means he's collected so much data that anyone who desperately needs intel will go to him. Because of this, even Forte doesn't like to let his violent tendencies go when it comes to him. He's too valuable of a resource.
That doesn't mean he's happy about it, though. Snake is easily the person he most wants to throttle. He doesn't want to delete him, just beat him up a lot, but the risk of cutting off that information source is way too high - and Snake does have contacts he doesn't want to risk coming after him. As aggravating as Snake is, he's a valuable asset to a lot of people. He's got people he can call on to make things bad for Rhythm. Despite all his paranoia and aggravation, however, Snake is reliable. He's never going to be Forte's first resort, no way in hell, but he's definitely someone he trusts to do the job. Despite Snake's attitude, he's never given false information in recorded history. If he doesn't want you to know something, he just won't accept the deal, and if it turns out handing the information over will be a problem, he'll either immediately cancel it, or make amends in some other way if the payment's already occurred. Because of that, Forte doesn't hesitate when he needs his help. He just grouches a lot and tries to resist the urge to attack him. |
